Many other states have challenged the issue of same-sex marriage and domestic partnerships. Several have passed amendments to their state constitutions defining marriage between a man and a woman. And in November of 2006, South Dakota faces the same question. As a historically conservative state, it is no doubt that the number of supporters of such legislation will be many—just the motivation the South Dakotans Against Discrimination needed to establish their platform.

The group is small, but very loud, and needed all the help it could get from constituents who agree, or may even be on the fence, that the amendment should not pass. But with any good fundraiser, comes the question, “what will my money be going toward?”

South Dakotans Against Discrimination new they needed a good answer to this question. And the solution was to develop a sharp and professional appearance with which to deliver it.

The first phase of the design was the development of a bold identifier which then was used to first get the Web site running. As the number of supporters began to grow, the organization decided it should send out regular updates to not only keep people on target with what was happening, but also to serve as an excellent means of viral marketing to drive more support.

In April, the site was live and rich with features, resources and most importantly, a method through which donations could be accepted and recorded.
